Thomas Wieland

Thomas Wieland has a PhD in bioinformatics from the Technical University Munich. Over the last 15 years his (research) focus has mainly been around Next-Generation Sequencing and its application to rare diseases and cancer. Over the years he has (co-)authored >60 peer reviewed publications.
Thomas joined Foundation Medicine seven years ago and held several roles in bioinformatics and technology. He played a key role in establishing the Foundation Medicine lab in Penzberg, Germany and of partner labs across the world. He is currently the Sr. Director for Bioinformatics & Technology, leading a team of experts responsible for analyzing Foundation Medicine’s diagnostic tests. Thomas is also responsible for technology & data strategy efforts in many projects across the Roche Group, including the AVENIO Tumor Tissue CGP Kit.
